3rd Annual Wikipedia Edit-a-thon: How Montana was Made

3rd Annual Wikipedia Edit-a-thon: How Montana was Made

The MSU Library and its partners are pleased to announce the Third Annual Wikipedia Edit-a-thon "How Montana was Made," which will take place in the MSU Library  (and online) on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026. We look forward to exploring this year's theme by improving the information available on important innovation, events, and people that have made Montana what it is today. Wikipedia Editing is a powerful way to invest students in information literacy, and act as informed citizens by contributing to access to reliable information. The event will be a drop-in conference that will feature speakers, panels, and editing instruction throughout the day. Participants can join us for as many sessions as they would like.

What is an edit-a-thon? It is an event where people gather at a host location (or remotely) to collectively work on editing Wikipedia entries on a specific topic/theme. Instructors will be present to get people set-up and would be available to assist new and experienced editors throughout the event. Editors focus on editing existing articles to add more information, add citations to improve resource reliability, or create new articles for people, places, events, and movements that don't already exist on Wikipedia.

Sponsored by: MSU Library, Student Commons, Women's Center, The Office of Access and Success, Dean of Students, College of Agriculture, College of Arts and Architecture, Gianforte School of Computing, and Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering (NACOE)
