Space Availability - Archives and Special Collections

From May 11 through August 4, 2026, the library's 2nd and 3rd floors are closed for construction. Archives and Special Collections is still open! When you arrive for your appointment, please go to the Service Desk, and they will notify us that you are here so that we can escort you safely to our reading room.

Before using archival collections, you will need to fill out an Application for Research Privileges, show a photo ID, and give it to the staff member on duty.  The application is not required for use of Special Collections books. Our materials do not circulate outside of the Reading Room.

If you need a reservation for our regular hours less than 24 hours from now (e.g. it's Thursday at 3 PM and you need a reservation starting at 11 AM on Friday), please use our  Contact Form to request that so that we can have your materials ready when you arrive.

If our normal hours absolutely do not meet your needs, or you need extended hours because you are traveling to visit us, we are happy to accommodate you if we have staff available. Please send your request to our  Contact Form.

The Archives and Special Collections Reading Room is located on the second floor of the Library. The front door will be locked, and a member of the staff will be available to let you in and get your materials.
