Gather to Edit: Women in Montana Wikipedia Edit-a-thon
Join the editing community in person or online! This year we are gathering to celebrate the women who have contributed to Montana history, science, engineering and computing, agriculture, and art. These are topics that could use improved visibility on Wikipedia, and during the event we will encourage participants to add or improve content on these topics. Not sure where to start? We have a growing "To-do" list you can pick from on our event page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/MSU/Women_in_Montana
Is this your first time editing Wikipedia? Jamie Flood will be joining us to instruct first time editors.
Have you edited before, but would like some help doing some more complex editing like writing an article from scratch? Jamie will also be on hand to walk intermediate and experienced editors through more in-depth editing.
Jamie Flood has been a Wikipedian for nine years and the Wikipedian-in-Residence at NAL for 5 years. She is one of the co-organizers for the Wikimedians of Indiana User Group. Additionally, she was the community manager for the WMF-funded View it! tool which was the newcomer "Coolest Tool" in 2024 and recently served as the program chair for WikiConference North America 2024.
You can attend this event either in-person in the Research Alliance (MSU Library room 324), or virtually via Webex.
Please REGISTER for this event. This event is a part of the Second Annual MSU Wikipedia Edit-a-thon: Women in Montana. Your registration will give you virtual access to all of the edit-a-thon events that day. For more information about the Edit-a-thon, check out the event page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/MSU/Women_in_Montana
This event is hosted by the MSU Library and planning has been assisted by Student Commons and the Women’s Center. We have financial sponsorships from the Gianforte School of Computing, Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering, and the Dean of Students.
